Dr. D. Khanna joined the Department of Physics, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore in the month of July, 2009. He has a research experience of over 18 years in the field of environmental radiation physics. He has a teaching experience of over 12 years. His research areas of interests are environmental radiation physics and medical radiation physics. He has taught Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Mathematical Physics, Nuclear Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics at undergraduate and post graduate levels. His passion lies in astronomy and astrophysics and he has organized various webinars in the fascinating field of astronomy. He has a passion towards encouraging towards youngsters in South Tamil Nadu and has given various motivational guest lectures to the students at colleges in Southern Tamil Nadu. Dr. D. Khanna has given many guest lectures at Aditanar College of Arts and Sciences, Tiruchendur especially which is his alma matter on a wider variety of physics related subjects. Two research scholars have completed their Ph.D. degree under his guidance so far in Medical Radiation Physics. Six research scholars are actively pursuing their research under his guidance at present. He is a particularly good motivational speaker encouraging students to realize their full potential. He has a passion towards encouraging the students to live a full life, both in academics and in personal life. According to him, a student should excel not only in academics by scoring good grades, but also in co-curricular activities, extracurricular activities, and extension activities. He also invigorates the young minds in achieving their full potential by getting core company placements for deserving students. He has held administration positions at the Karunya Institute and is the member of various academic committees in his department. He has good academic and research tie-ups with eminent institutions in India and abroad. Dr. D. Khanna is interested in the field of science and faith. He has arranged many invited talks in this especially important aspect of life. He has given seminars and lectures on the theme “Science and Faith: Conflict or Confluence?” He has good tie-ups with international scholars of repute in the field of dialogue between religion and science. His passion in sports lies towards cricket (as is the case with many Indians) and is a die-hard fan of Indian Cricket Team. He has also special interests towards football, tennis and Formula 1 race. He is an intrepid traveler and likes to visit historical places of importance. He is avid book reader and likes to read books on religion, science especially in the field of astronomy and astrophysics and history. He has a passion towards music and is a fan of many popular music bands of yester years. He has slowly started to move towards conservation efforts and encourages students to take part in environmental conservation efforts.
